OUR HISTORY

 

The Taw Caw Community Outreach Center was founded in 2005 and became a 501(c)(3) organization in 2006. The organization is an outgrowth of the Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church where its outreach services to the community began. The Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church is a historic church founded in the early 1800’s and purchased by former slaves in 1885 for $400.

 

Prior to 2013 the center’s programs occurred in space donated by the church. In 2013 we achieved a major milestone and constructed a facility on land donated by the church. The Taw Caw Missionary Baptist Church continues to support the mission of the center through, donations, memberships, and help with programs and fundraising activities. Our enduring partnership with the Taw Caw Missionary Baptist church represents a strong commitment on behalf of the church and the center to serve our rural community.
